Nydia Track Pelorus Sound - Marlborough Sounds

The Nydia track is a wonderful 2 day walk (approximately a 4-5 hour walk from either end) on a track maintained by the Department of Conservation.

It crosses the Kaiuma and Nydia saddles with superb views and follows the sheltered shoreline of historic Nydia Bay. Formed by linking old bridle paths, the 27km track meanders through a variety of regenerating native bush and beautiful untouched forest.

The Nydia track is classified as a tramping track and passes through lush coastal forest, with rimu, nikau, and beech trees. The track is suited to people of reasonable fitness. Boots are recommended and because some of the streams are not bridged, care should be taken when crossing them after rain.
