Tramping & Mountain Biking the Nydia Track
Te Mahoerangi Backpackers is located half way along the Nydia Track. The Nydia Track provides a two-day hike crossing the Kaiuma and Nydia saddles and following the sheltered shoreline of historic Nydia Bay. Formed by linking old bridle paths, the 27km track meanders through a variety of native bush and forest.

Classified as a tramping track, the Nydia Track is most suited to people with reasonable fitness. Boots are recommended on the well-defined track and because some of the streams are not bridged, care is required when crossing them after heavy rain. The track is also open to mountain bikes.

Also to be found in the local area of Nydia Bay are various smaller trekking opportunites to water falls, swimming holes and historical relics.
